Advent kicks off the new year in the Christian calendar (yes, Christians have a calendar). It marks the 4 Sundays that precede Christmas. Read more about it here and here. Fundamentally, Advent is about waiting, hoping, anticipation, and preparing.
Waiting on God to change something in the midst of suffering is a challenge. Tom Petty’s 1981 hit from the album “Hard Promises” nails an Advent truth (even though he was writing about something else).
Waiting is the hardest part.
What are you waiting on God for? Email me and I’ll be praying with you.
This Sunday we will be looking at a passage from 1 Thessalonians 5, which is the earliest letter written by Paul. We will discuss how we wait. This Sunday, I’ll be preaching at Hyde Park. If you want to check it out, after the Gathering, go here.
