H.O.P.E. Nehemiah Action – ZOOM Event

The Hillsborough Organization for Progress and Equality’s Nehemiah Action will be held virtually on Monday, March 22, from 7-8:30 p.m.

Attending this once a year event is a powerful and easy way for our congregation to “do justice together”, leveraging our numbers to engage decision makers on important issues impacting marginalized people in our county.
Hyde Park UMC’s turnout goal is 160, and HOPE is expecting 1,500 in attendance overall.
Two specific “asks” at the Action will relate to criminal justice reform (regarding (1) increasing Hillsborough County’s use of youth civil citations and (2) addressing racial profiling by police). Regarding mental health and addiction, there will be a follow up “ask” regarding the establishment of a Recovery-Through-Work Clubhouse Program, an initiative HOPE got commitments on at the 2019 Nehemiah Action.
