Serve and share a Christmas day meal with anyone who is hungry or unsheltered.

Set up, serving, clean up, and break down opportunities.

Volunteers:

Volunteer Shifts:
Shift 1: 10:30-12:45 (includes setup)
Shift 2: 12:15-2:30 (includes clean up)

All are welcome.

Items of Note:

Volunteers may sign up for 2, back to back shifts in order to serve for the entirety of the event

Volunteers must be age 8 or older.

Volunteers under 18 must be accompanies by an adult.

Portico Volunteer Position Descriptions:

Food pick up/delivery and drop off of food containers (1-2 people): Ideally should have a truck or larger vehicle with ample space for large containers of food.

Pick up food from Met Min. Return food containers to Met Min after service. (this can be split into two different positions; pick up and drop off)

Guest gatherers (1 or more people): Depending on how many current guests we have already, volunteers walk to bus stops and nearby areas to invite guests to lunch.

Welcome Team (2-3) people): In breezeway, mingle, chat, greet and welcome guests and guide them into the sanctuary.

Check-in/Sign-in Table (1-2 people): Greet and welcome everyone who enters with a warm smile, ask that they sign in, and welcome them to the meal. Let them know to sit down anywhere, make themselves comfortable, and food/beverages will be brought to them.

Remain at welcome station for entirety of service to assure accurate tracking of all who enter. We will have a sign in sheet for guests and a sign in sheet for volunteers.

Food Plating (2 people): Wearing gloves and masks, use serving spoons to place food onto plates (typically three items, plus a bread), and a bundle of plasticware. Maintain clean working environment and keep group updated on food availability/quantity.

Table Servers (1 per table): Bring plates of food, drinks (water or coffee), and dessert to each guest as they arrive. Be responsible for your table and its guests needs, helping them to remain seated and enjoy the ambience, rather than getting up for condiments, etc.

Table Hosts (1 per table): If we have enough volunteer coverage for food plating and serving, table host volunteers will sit down to engage in conversation with the guests of their assigned table.

Bussers (3-4 people): Actively monitor all tables for when any dishes are empty, abandoned or need to be removed for any reason.

Break Down/Cleanup: Wash out food containers and serving dishes, return supplies to café and closet behind the stage, wipe down tables, remove any items from tables, take the trash out to the dumpster, take the coffee pot and items back to café.
